OVERVIEW
The Faculty of Business Studies is the business wing of the University. It has four (4) Departments, namely: Accounting & Finance, Procurement & Supply, Marketing & Strategy and Secretaryship & Management Studies. All the Departments offer programmes leading to the award of Higher National Diploma in Business Studies and Bachelor of Technology degrees in Business Studies. Among the Bachelor of Technology programmes offered are Accounting with Computing, Marketing (all in collaboration with Kumasi Technical University), Secretaryship & Management Studies (in collaboration with Koforidua Technical University) and Procurement Management.
POPULATION
The Faculty currently has a total student population of three thousand and eighty-six (3,086). Out of the total number, one thousand seven hundred and sixty-five (1,765) are male and one thousand three hundred and twenty-one (1,321) are female. The total staff population of the Faculty is eighty-six (86), comprising both teaching and non-teaching.
MISSION
The mission of the Faculty of Business Studies is to offer full-time tertiary programmes relevant to commerce and industry in order to supply middle and high level manpower for the economic development of Western Region and Ghana as a whole.
VISION
The vision of the Faculty of Business Studies is to become a centre of excellence in teaching and research in commerce and industry both in Ghana and abroad.
OBJECTIVES
In order to achieve its vision, the Faculty is currently:
- offering high quality career-oriented training to middle and high level manpower in commerce and industry;
- equipping students with contemporary skills and techniques in a bid to make them functional in commerce and industry;
- equipping students with the requisite entrepreneurial skills necessary for industrial development; as well as
- promoting Ghana’s industrialisation drive through relevant industrial research and consultancy in all aspects of business development.
