Introduction

A warm welcome to the UENR School of Agriculture and Technology (SOAT). Our goal at SOAT is to develop and apply the science and scholarship of agriculture, food, business and rural development for the benefit of society through excellence in education, research, innovation and continuing professional development.

Our dedication to developing the next generation of agricultural and food scientists makes us the first destination of choice for students in Ghana interested in developing their careers in the agri-food sector. Our agriculture or food programme offers broad spectrum of integrated teaching and research within a single school.

The School has over 35 academic staff with about 95% PhD holders who teach, conduct research and provide service at many levels to the agriculture and food industry. This is driven by world population growth increasing the need for food and a demand for healthy living through an appropriate diet. There is also heightened awareness of the potential for agriculture to mitigate climate change, preserve biodiversity and contribute to the world’s energy needs.

The School has chosen to focus on Production Agriculture; Agribusiness, agricultural economics and Rural Development, Agri-Environment and Sustainable Resource Management and Food Science and Technology as the core elements of its Programmes. This creates a unique focus and identity for the School which spans the complete food chain from farm to fork. Currently, the SOAT is very well knighted together with the School of Geosciences (SOG) at the Dormaa-Ahenkro campus of UENR. Consequently, the following Departments are situated at the Dormaa-Ahenkro campus.
