Regional Maritime University RMU Admission Requirements – Check Below:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes for the 2022/2023 Academic Year commencing SEPTEMBER 2022.
UNDERGRADUATE 4-YEAR B.Sc. PROGRAMMES

B.Sc. COMPUTER ENGINEERING (REGULAR/WEEKEND)
B.Sc. COMPUTER SCIENCE (REGULAR/WEEK-END)
B.Sc. ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (REGULAR/WEEK-END)
B.Sc. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING (REGULAR/WEEK-END)

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have credits (A1-C6/ A-D) in the following Three (3) Core Subjects: English, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credits (A1-C6/A-D) in three elective Subjects which must include Physics and Elective Mathematics with an aggregate score of not more than 36 on the WASSCE scale or not more than 24 on the SSSCE/NECO Scales or better.
Or
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Holders: Applicants must have credits in at least five (5) G.C.E ‘O’ Levelsubjects including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least three (3) Advanced Level passes in relevant subjects one of which must be Mathematics.
Or
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Other qualifications including;

    1. International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum note of 10/20 in each of the relevant subjects.
    2. Combined IGCSE and Cambridge – GCE ‘A’ and ‘O’ levels holders must have three relevant subjects at the Cambridge ‘A’ Levels, in addition to at least five (5) passes including English and Mathematics at the Cambridge ‘O’ Level.
    3. American Grades 12 with a Final Grade Point of at least 3.0.
    4. City & Guilds Technician Part 3 and Advanced Technician Diploma, etc. in relevant subjects which are equivalent to the SSSCE/WASSCE or the GCE will be considered.

Or
HND Holders: HND holders in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division from recognized Tertiary Institutions. Applicants must have at least two (2) years post-qualification working experience.
MATURE STUDENTS’ ENTRY ROUTE (ALL PROGRAMMES)

  • Applicants must be at least 25 years old, and would have to show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth, which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.
  • Applicant must also pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by the University in (English Language, Mathematics and Aptitude Test).
  • Applicants intending to offer any of the programmes listed above must have a science background.

NOTE: The Mature Entrance Examinations will be held on Friday, 10th August, 2022

B.Sc. PORTS AND SHIPPING ADMINISTRATION (REGULAR/WEEK-END)
B.Sc. LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have credits (A1-C6/ A-D) in the following Three (3) Core subjectsEnglish, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus credits (A1-C6/ A-D) in any three (3) elective subjects with an aggregate score of 36 on the WASSCE scale or 24 on the SSSCE Scale or better.
Or
General Certificate of Education (GCE) holders: Applicants must have credits in at least five G.C.E ‘O’ Level subjects which must include English Language and Mathematics plus at least three passes at Advanced Level.
Or
Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Holders: Applicants must have full Diploma Certificate in ABCE. In addition, applicants must have credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) or SSSCE or WASSCE or NECO. ABCE candidates may be considered for admission at level 200 of a degree programme.
Or
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Other qualifications including;

  1. International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum note of 10/20 in each of the relevant subjects.
  2. American Grades 12 with a Final Grade Point of at least 3.0.
  3. Combined IGCSE and Cambridge – GCE ‘A’ and ‘O’ levels holders must have three relevant subjects at the Cambridge ‘A’ Levels, in addition to at least five (5) passes including English and Mathematics at the Cambridge ‘O’ Level, etc. which are equivalent to WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO or GCE will be considered.

Or
HND Holders: HND holders in Business related programmes with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division from recognized Tertiary Institutions may be admitted to level 300 and HND in other programmes will be admitted into level 200. Applicants must have at least two (2) years post-qualification working experience.
PLEASE NOTE:
B.Sc. LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT with one year abroad.
The above programme is jointly run by the Regional Maritime University (RMU) and Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) China. The First, Second and Fourth years will be run at the Regional Maritime University, Ghana while the third year will be in Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), China. HOWEVER, TRAVELLING TO SMU IS NOT AUTOMATIC. IT IS SUBJECT TO OBTAINING CHINESE ENTRY VISA.

  • Interested candidates must have the financial capability to pay for a return ticket to China and also their upkeep whilst in China.
  • Applicants must not be more than 30 years at the commencement of the programme (August, 2022)

B.Sc. LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT without a year abroad

  • Applicants will pursue entire programme [i.e. year 1 to 4] at RMU, Ghana.

MATURE STUDENTS’ ENTRY ROUTE (ALL PROGRAMMES)

  1. Applicants must be at least 25 years old, and would have to show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.
  2. Applicant must also pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by the University in (English Language, Mathematics and Aptitude Test).

NOTE: The Mature Entrance Examinations will be held on Friday, 10th August, 2022.
HOW TO APPLY
B.Sc. NAUTICAL SCIENCE
(A programme to pursue a career as Ship Captain)
GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have credits (A1-C6/ A-D) in the following Three (3) CoreSubjectsEnglish, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credits (A1-C6/A-D) in three elective Subjects which must include Physics and Elective Mathematics with an aggregate score of not less than 36 on the WASSCE scale or not less than 24 on the SSSCE/NECO Scales or better.
Or
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Holders: Applicants must have credits in at least five (5) G.C.E ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least three (3) Advanced Level passes in relevant subjects one of which must be Mathematics.
Or
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Other qualifications including;

  1. International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum note of 10/20 in each of the relevant subjects.

MA in Ports and Shipping Administration (with University of Ghana)

Eligibility Criteria:
A good First Degree with at least a Minimum of 2nd Lower Division in any of the following:
Social Sciences; Business Administration; Maritime Discipline and other related Disciplines from a recognized University, plus not less than two (2) years post-qualification working experience in Logistics or Maritime related organization.
or
The highest grade Certificate of Competency for unrestricted service as Master Mariner or Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy.
Applicants must submit the following with applications:

  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae
  • A thesis proposal of not more than 500 words
  • Three (3) referee’s reports.

MSc. Bio-Processing Engineering

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have a good first degree in Engineering with at least second class Lower Division from a recognized University. Applicants with a B.Sc. in the Physical Sciences will be considered if they have at least one (1) year relevant work experience.
Applicants must submit the following with applications:

  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae
  • A thesis proposal of not more than 500 words
  • Three (3) referee’s reports.

MSc. Environmental Engineering
Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must have a good first degree in Engineering with at least second class Lower Division from a recognized University. Applicants with a B.Sc. in the Physical Sciences will be considered if they have at least one (1) year relevant work experience.
  2. Applicants must submit the following with applications:
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae
  • A thesis proposal of not more than 500 words
  • Three (3) referee’s reports.

DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (REGULAR/WEEKEND)

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have six [6] passes (A1-D7/A-D) in all subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and a minimum of C6 in three (3) passes in relevant subjects (e.g. Elective Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Applied Electricity, Geography etc).
Or
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Holders: Applicant must have credits in at least five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus at least two (2) Advanced Level passes in relevant subjects. (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Metal Work, Applied Electricity etc).
Or
Other Qualifications including;

  1. International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum note of 10/20 in each of the relevant subjects,
  2. American Grades 12 with a Final Grade Point of at least 3.0.
  3. Combined IGCSE and Cambridge – GCE (Cambridge) – ‘A’ and ‘O’ levels must have two relevant subjects at the Cambridge ‘A’ Levels and in addition must have five (5) passes including English and Mathematics at the Cambridge ‘O’ Level.
  4. City and Guilds Technician Part II and Advanced Technician Diploma, etc. in relevant subjects which are equivalent to the SSSCE/WASSCE/NECO or the GCE will be considered.

DIPLOMA IN PORTS AND SHIPPING MANAGEMENT (REGULAR/WEEK-END)

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have six [6] passes (A1-D7/A-D) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and a minimum of C6 in three (3) passes in any elective subjects.
Or
G.C.E. ‘O’ Level: Credit in five [5] subjects (including Mathematics & English Language), plus G.C.E. ‘A’ Level passes in any two (2) subjects.
Or
GBCE Candidates: credit passes (A-D) in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus two (2) relevant elective subjects.
MATURE STUDENTS’ ENTRY ROUTE

  1. Applicants must be at least 25 years old, and would have to show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth, which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.

Target Group: Diploma in Marine Engineering and Nautical Science programmes are ideal for those interested in developing Professional Careers in the Merchant Marine and Oil & Gas Industry.
NOTE:

  1. All candidates must satisfy specific Departmental requirements in addition to the general requirements.
  2. Final Admission onto all programmes are based on successful completion of physical and medical examinations at the Regional Maritime University Sick Bay.

NOTE:

  1. Candidates for these programmes must equally meet the conditions for Cadetship training.
  2. Candidates for these programmes have very bright opportunity for ready employment as Cadets on board ships of very renowned companies. These companies will also offer full employment as Officers on board their vessels after acquisition of certificate of competency.
