About KTU Institute Of Open and Distance Learning

Introduction

IODL is the newest institute in Koforidua Polytechnic specifically aimed at developing quality open and distance education in Ghana.
In today’s knowledge economy, lifelong learning and continuing education is not only a comfort but a pre-requisite to societal responsibility. The Institute of Open and Distance Learning (IODL) was established in 1st August 2012 to provide opportunity for people to learn at a time, place or pace which satisfies their circumstances and requirements.
To address the needs of working professionals and business executives, programmes of the Institute are delivered in three modes: Distance Learning, Weekend programmes and Evening programmes. There are four main divisions under the Institute:

  • Distance Learning
  • Parallel Programmes
  • Professional Programmes
  • Non-Tertiary Programmes Division.

Distance Learning
It is Off-campus Distance Education offering the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes of the Polytechnic to those who are unable to commute regularly to the Polytechnic.
Parallel Programmes
The Division runs evening and weekend BTech and HND programmes on the main campus of the Polytechnic.
Professional Programmes
This Division prepares students and professionals for Certified International Examinations. The Courses include:

  • Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA)
  • Institute of Chartered Marketing (ICA)
  • London Institute of Marketing (LCM)
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)
  • ICM
  • ICSM
  • CIB
  • CISCO

Non-Tertiary Programmes
This Division runs evening and weekend non-tertiary programmes (the details are explained subsequently)
