DEPARTMENTS OF THE SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH:

  1. Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics

The Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department is one of four key departments of the School of Public Health (SPH), located on the Hohoe campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in the Volta Region of Ghana. The department has the following units:

  • Epidemiology Unit
  • Occupational Health Unit
  • Environmental Health Unit
  • Public Health Practice Unit
  • Biostatistics Unit
  • Health Information Unit
  1. Department of Family and Community Health

The Department of Family and Community Health within the School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Hohoe is a dynamic, diverse, and broad-based academic department that currently houses Tracks in Nutrition, Public Health Nursing and Mental Health. The department is dedicated to providing leadership to achieve the highest standards of education and research to our undergraduate students. The department is also currently developing a graduate programme in nutritional sciences and contributing towards the masters in Public Health as part of the overall strategy of the School.  We are also committed to improving the impact of our work on the health of populations within the communities in the Hohoe Municipality with special emphasis on those most vulnerable. The department has the following units:

  1. Department of Health Policy, Planning and Management

The department has the following units:

  • Health Policy Unit
  • Planning Unit
  • Health Systems & Management Unit

  1. Department of Population and Behavioural Sciences

The mission of the Department of Populations and Behavioral Sciences is to improve health throughout the lifespan. This mission is to be achieved through research that will identify the social and behavioral determinants of health, develop and evaluate interventions and policies which will lead to the improvement of population health, and the preparation of professionals and researchers who will fill leadership positions in advocacy and public service. The department also intends to train both scholars and practitioners: scholars whose research will shed light on basic social determinants of health and who will identify and test innovative social policy and service interventions; practitioners who are skilled in designing, implementing and evaluating health-enhancing interventions in action settings. The department has the following units:

  • Population Health Unit
  • Social Science Unit
  • Health Promotion Unit
