The Objective of the Disaster Management Department is to minimize vulnerabilities and disaster risks and limit the adverse impact of hazards.

International Humanitarian Law

Dissemination on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) is one of the key activities that the Ghana Red Cross Society undertakes. In line with our mandate and objectives, and with support from ICRC, GRCS holds regular dissemination sessions on IHL, particularly for the Armed Forces and other service personnel as well as traditional, political and opinion leaders. This is to ensure that the public is abreast with IHL and what it entails and its importance in situations of armed conflict.
What is International Humanitarian Law (IHL)?
Also known as the Law of War, IHL is a set of rules that seek to limit the damage and suffering caused by war by placing restrictions on the use of weapons and methods of warfare. It protects people who are not or are no longer participating in hostilities. IHL aims to protect human dignity and to limit suffering during times of war.

The Health Department is responsible for about 80% of the core mandate of the National Society Nationwide Projects include:
•    Guinea Worm Eradication
•    Human Pandemic Preparedness
•    Integrated Maternal Health Campaign (Polio)
•    Region/Sector specific Projects
•    Interventions to combat Public Health Emergencies
