KNUST- Connect Windows 7 Computer To the wireless Internet?

1. Download the SecureW2 software from the attachment below.
2. Run the application using the default settings on the application and reboot your computer after completion.
3. Open network and sharing center, or simply search for it in the search bar.
4. Click on “Manage wireless networks” at the top left corner.
5. Next you click on “Add”
6. A new window opens asking you how you want to add a network, click on “Manually create network profile.”
7. Use the following details below and click “Next”
* Network name : KNUST WIFI
* security type : WPA2-Enterprise
* Encryption type : AES
* Select “Start this connection automatically”
* Select “Connect even if the network is not broadcasting”
8. Next you click on “Change connection settings”.
9. Under the “KNUST WIFI Wireless Network Properties”, select the following and under the “connection” tab
* “Connect automatically when this network is in range”
* “Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)”
10. Under the “Security” tab and under “Choose a network authentication method” choose “SecureW2: SecureW2 EAP-TTLS” and then click on then click on “settings” to open to the “SecureW2 configuration.”
11. Under the “DEFAULT” profile, click on “Configure”
12. Under the “Connection” tab, uncheck the “use alternative outer identity” box and click on the “Certificates” tab.
13. Under the “Certificates” tab, uncheck the “Verify server Certificate” box and click on the “Authentication” tab.
14. Under the “Authentication” tab, select “PAP” as the “Authentication Method” box and click on the “User account” tab
15. Under the “User Account”, you can either
a. Uncheck the “prompt user for credentials” box, fill in your “Username” and “Password” and click on “OK” or
b. Check the “prompt user for credentials” box and click on “OK” as this is recommended for public access computers
16. If 15.a is selected, you should be connected automatically to the “KNUST WIFI”
17. If 15.b is selected, you will see the prompt upon connection to the “KNUST WIFI asking for your “Username” and “Password”
