The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a scheme set up for ALL Ghanaian graduates who have completed their various tertiary courses. It is a mandatory requirement – that is backed by the law through ACT 426(of 1980) – that all eligible individual must embark on the scheme.
Graduates stand to gain a lot from the program including getting exposure in the job market in both the public and private sector as part of their responsibility to aid in nation-building through their active participation.
You, being a fresh university graduate should be able to check your NSS posting online. I will take you through the process of NSS extension posting and NSS extension posting checking.
Step 1:
- To start off the process of NSS extension posting, you will need to have an NSS pin. It is impossible to check the status of your NSS posting if you do not have an NSS PIN, you will be required to apply for one from the official NSS website.
- Once you have your own personal PIN, you can now proceed to visit the NSS Posting website in your browser.
Step 2:
Now that you already have the NSS pin, you can now continue with the process of NSS extension posting.
When you visit the NSS posting portal, you will be taken to the homepage. On the left of the homepage, you will get instructions. It is very important to read the instructions carefully. The instructions indicate that
- You to enter your NSS pin
- You submit your details after finishing the first requirement of inputting your password.
Step 3:
- After understanding the instructions, now go to the middle of the page and look for the icon labeled “postings”
- Under that icon, you will find a table with the title “posting checking”. You are now embarking on the process of NSS extension posting checking.
- In the “post checking” box, you will be required to input your password in the specified area and you will have to submit your password. Make sure the password you input is a 12 digit code.
Step 4:
Once you enter the correct PIN, you will see your personal NSS extension posting details. The personalized posting consists of the following information.
- A photo if you
- Your NSS number
- Your name
- The institution you attended
- The place that you have been posted
- There’s a section for remarks
- The year you were enrolled to the service.
You should not ignore the links at the bottom of the page. The links below the page are there to aid you in accessing and eventually printing your posting letter. You can also choose to print the page for your own personal records.
Step 5:
Finally, you are required to print your posting letter and posting information. You should print two copies of each and ensure you have dropped them off at the Regional Director of the region you have been posted. This is the final step where you get the approval and you are handed your assignment.
