UHAS Department of Public Health Nursing

The Department of Public Health Nursing (PHN) is one of the three departments of School Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM). The PHN department offers the Bachelor of Public Health Nursing (B.PHN) programme on Regular, Sandwich and Top-up basis (please see the University’s website for details of entry requirements).
The B.PHN Programme is in tandem with the University’s aims of:
» Providing higher education in the health sciences through teaching and research for persons suitably qualified and capable of benefiting from such education
» Disseminating knowledge and results of research and their applications to the needs and aspirations of the people of Ghana
» Providing clinical and other skills services to contribute positively to improving the health status and overall quality of life, and foster partnerships with outside persons and bodies
What distinguishes the UHAS Graduate Public Health Nurse from others?
Ultimately, the graduate Public Health Nurse from this University will be able to assess and identify the individual client, family and community health needs, plan, and implement interventions using the nursing care process across all settings of health care delivery with the involvement of the clients, stakeholders among others.
