The founding of Simms senior High School emerged
following an emergency meeting convened by the
Fawoade Yasore Town development Committee on Sunday 12th December, 1976, to discuss matters affecting the education of the young ones who
failed to gain admission into the colleges in the
country having passed the Common entrance
Examinations due to limited vacancies. The meeting
resolved for the establishment of a college upon
the initiative of some intellectuals, among g which was Mr. Simms Kofi Mensah. By January 1977, Mr. Simms K. Mensah informed the
Town development committee that he has obtained the approval of the Inspectorate Division of Ghana Education service to establish a co-educational institution under the registration number, P.A/2/77. The Simms Secondary/Commercial College was thus established and opened on Friday, 30th September, 1977, under the auspices of some distinguished personalities including Mr. B. Allotey Babinton (District Chief Executive, Kwabre Sekyere District). Mr. George Hanson, (The Assistant Director, G.E.S), Nana Kofi Amoako, (The Oyoko Bremanhene) and Mr. Simms K. Mensah, (Chairman, Board of Management).
