KNUST Economics

The B.A. Economics programme is designed to give students maximum
exibility in the rst, second and nal years. In the rst and second years
students minor in other B.A. programmes (Sociology, Social Work, Political
Studies, History, Geography and Rural Development, Religious Studies, Akan,
English, French, Chinese) offered at different departments of the Faculty of
Social Sciences.
In the rst, second and third years students are required to take approved
courses at other departments of the University aside the Faculty of Social
Sciences. In the nal year students have the option to specialise in three
elective courses (Advanced Econometrics, Monetary Economics, International
Economics, Financial Economics, Public Finance, Environmental and Resource
Economics, Energy Economics, Industrial Economics, Labour Economics and
Health Economics) in addition to two core courses (Advanced
Microeconomics and Advanced Macroeconomics) and a dissertation.
