The kenya police include the following departments:
Criminal Investigation Departemnt
Antinarcotics Unit
General Service Unit
Traffic Police
Regular Police

The GSU is one of the 10 units in the Kenya Police Force. Others include Kenya Airport Police Unit, Antistock Theft Unit, Dog Unit and Antiterrorism Unit. They are tasked with supporting the Regular Police in their operations and specificaly deal with acts of Civil Disturbance (riot control), Antibanditry operations, and providing securtiy at vital installations such as airports, airlines, State House and some embassies.

The unit is further split into subunits called companies. There are field and Nairobi-based companies.

The unit’s Training School in Embakasi also has the status of a company. Large companies have Commanding Officers while smaller companies have Officers Commanding.
A company is divided into platoons while platoons are divided into sections, all of which have commanders of different ranks. A section commander heads a section, the equivalent of a police post. The unit has 4 companies: Headquarters, Training School, Recce Company, and G-Company (Presidential Guards).
Some of the duties carried out of Headquarters include administrative work and as security detail for VIPs. The Recce Company is an elite force within the unit that is often deployed on special assignments.
