General Elegibility for Cadets

Eligible applicant should:

  1. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  2. Be of good character.
  3. Not be less than 18 years and not more than 26 years by 06 June, 2022 for Regular Commission and not more than the specified years by Thursday 02 May 2022, for the respective Short Service Commission applicants.
  4. Be medically fit by Ghana Armed Forces standard.
  5. Be not bonded.
  6. Be not married (for Regular Officer Candidates only).
  7. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6’’) for males and 1.60m (5’ 4”) for females.

For Military Police only; the minimum height for male applicants should be 1.75m (5’9”) and 1.70m (5’ 7”) for females.
Must have the following:
BECE.  Must have Six (6) Passes including English and Mathematics.
 WASSCE.  Must have Six (6) Credits (Not less than C6) including Core English and Core Mathematics.
                                                                        Or

  •  SSSCE.  Must have Six (6) Credits (Not less than D) including Core English and Mathematics.

                                                                        Or

  •  GCE ‘O’ Level.  Must have Five (5) Credits (Not less than 6) including English and Mathematics.

  •  GCE ‘A’ Level.  Must have Credits in all Three (3) subjects (Not less than D) and General Paper

a. Infantry/Armour/Artillery/Military Police.            In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 Credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.

(2)        Radio Technician.        In addition to the General Eligibility applicant must have Mathematics, Physics, Elective Mathematics and any of the following:
(a)        City and Guilds Certificate in Electronics.
(b)        City and Guilds Certificate in Telecommunications.
(3)        Line Technician.        In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics and any of the following:
(a)        Certificate in Fibre Optics Technology.
(b)        Certificate in RF Engineering.
(c)        Certificate in Satellite Communications.
 
f. Directorate of Information Technology(DIT). In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics and any of the following:
(1)        Network Administration.     N+ Certificate from a recognised Institution including knowledge in LINUX/Windows Server 2003, 2008 and above.
(2)        Database Administration.     Certification in My SQL, SQL, and Oracle from a recognised Institution.
(3)        Computer Programming.     Certification in VB, C++ and Java from a recognised Institution.
(4)        Web Designing.         Certification in HTML, PHP, CSS, CMS, Adobe and Photoshop from a recognised Institution.
 
g. Supply and Transport Corps. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics and any of the following:
(1)        Drivers. Professional Driving Licence Class B.
(2)        Supply Clerks/Storeman. Certificate in computer software applications (Word, Excel, Access, Corel Drawing etc) from a recognised Institution.
(3)        Movement.     Diploma/Certificate in Freight Forwarding/Air Travel and Tour from a recognised Institution.
(4)        Fireman/Woman.      Certificate in Fire Fighting from National Fire Service plus professional Driving Licence class B.
(5)        Cooks.            In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have the following qualification from a recognised Institution.
(a)        HND in Catering.
(b)        Diploma in Catering.
(c)        NVTI Grade I & II.
 
h. Public Relations Corps. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(1)        Information Assistants.         Diploma/Certificate (not less than one year continuous study) from a recognised/accredited institution in Journalism, Public Relations, English Language /Literature, Broadcasting, Communication Studies or Photo journalism.
(2)        Photographers.  Diploma/Certificate (not less than one year continuous study) from a recognised/accredited institution in general photography.
(3)        Cinematographer.      Diploma/Certificate (not less than one year continuous study) from a recognised/accredited institution in Fine Art, Film Editing, Camera Work, Lighting, Film Directing, Sound, Graphic Design or Animation.
 
i. Ordnance Corps.
(1)        Storeman/Woman. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE and Diploma in Business Studies and HND in Purchasing and Supply.
(2)        Ammunition Technicians.  In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including science subjects.
(3)        Tailors.           In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a) GES Intermediate Certificate.
(b) COVET Certificate II.
 
j. Clerk General Duties. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE including Credit in English and Mathematics and any of the following.
(1)        RSA Stage III in secretarial duties and credit in typing.
(2)        Typist Grade I and II Certificate from Government Secretarial School.
(3)        Stenographer Grade II Certificate.
(4)        DBS (Secretarial Option).
(5)        Certificate in computer software applications (Word, Excel, Access, Corel Drawing etc) from a recognised Institution.

(1)        Air Force Police.        In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics.

(a)        6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE including English and Mathematics;
(b)        RSA Stage III in secretarial duties and credit in typing.

(1)        Storeman/Supplier.   In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a)        6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE (Business Option) including English and Mathematics.
(b)        City and Guilds or GES certificate in storekeeping/purchasing and supply.
(2)        Cobblers/ Leather Works & Tailor. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have:
(a)        GES Intermediate Certificate in any of the above.
(b)        GES or COTVET Certificate II in any of the above
 
c. Engineering Branch.
(1)        Airframe, Engines, Radio, Electronic, Instruments, Photo and Armament Trades.             In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following:
(a)        6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE (Science or Technical Option) including English and Mathematics
(b)        City and Guilds Part I /II or GES Intermediate/Final Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Plant/Automotive Engineering/Electrical Technician/Electrical Installation/ Electronic Technician.
(2)        Plumbers/Masons/Welders/Machinist/Carpenters/Refrigeration. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have GES or City and Guilds Intermediate Certificate in the related field.
(3)        Safety and Surface.   In addition to the General Eligibility all applicants must have 6 credits at WASSCE including English, Mathematics and credit in Graphics and Design or Fine Art.
(4)       Vehicle Mechanic.  In addition to the General Eligibility all applicants must have City and Guilds Intermediate or GES Technical Examination Unit Certificate in Auto Mechanics/Auto Electrician plus a Professional Driver’s Licence of minimum class C.

d. Air Branch.
(1) Air Traffic Controller/Operations Clerks. In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE including English, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
(2)        Aero Firemen.           In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE, including Mathematics and English plus a driving licence class D.
 
5. Medical Candidates (Army/Navy/Air Force)
a. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have credit in English and Mathematics (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE.
b. Must have any of the following from an accredited institution of higher learning with at least one (1) year working experience in a recognized health facility:
(1)        General Nurses. Diploma in Nursing (Registered General Nursing/Registered Mental Nursing/Registered Community Nursing/Emergency Nursing) and must have completed the mandatory rotation.  Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(2)        Nurse Assistants.  Certificate in Nursing (Community Health/Health Assistant Clinical) and must have completed the mandatory rotation. Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(3)        Midwives.         Diploma in Midwifery (Registered Midwifery) and must have completed the mandatory rotation.  Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(4)        Pharmacy Technicians.          HND in Dispensing Technology  must have completed the mandatory national service.  Must be a registered member and be in good standing with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
(5)        Technical Officers (Dental Surgery Assistant).  Diploma in Dental Surgery option and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(6)        Technical Officers (Dental Technology). Diploma in Dental Technology option and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(7)        Technical Officers (X’Ray). Diploma in Radiology Technology and must have completed the mandatory national service.  Must be a registered member and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(8)        Technical Officers (Health Promotion).  Diploma in Public Health (Health Promotion) and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(9)        Technical Officers (Medical Laboratory).  Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology plus one (1) year mandatory national service. Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(10)      Technical Officers (Physiotherapy).   Diploma in Physiotherapy plus one (1) year mandatory national service.  Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(11)      Technical Officers (Orthotics).  Diploma in Orthotics plus one (1) year mandatory national service.  Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(12)      Technical Officers (Health Information).  Diploma in Public Health (Informatics)  plus one (1) year mandatory national service.
(13)      Technical Officers (Biostatistics).  Diploma in Statistics plus one (1) year mandatory national service.
(14)      Technical Officers (Veterinary).  Diploma in Field Animal Health/Veterinary Laboratory Techniques plus one (1) year mandatory national service.
(15)      Biomedical Engineering Technologists.  Diploma in Medical Equipment Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(16)      Technical Officers (Environmental Health).  Diploma in Public Health (Environmental Health)plus one (1) year mandatory national service.  Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(17)      Technical Assistant (Environmental Health).  Certificate in Public Health (Environmental Health). Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(18)      Emergency Medical Technicians.   Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) –Basic/Advanced level.
(19)      Physiotherapist Assistants.   Certificate in Physiotherapy Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(20)      Medical Laboratory Assistants.  Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology plus one (1) year post qualification internship. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(21)      Environmental Health Assistants.   Certificate in Environmental Health Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(22)      Biostatistics/Record Assistants.   Certificate in Health Records Management

6. Band Candidates (Army/Navy/Air Force)
a. Applicants must have 2 credits and 4 Passes at WASSCE.

(5)       Preference will be given to applicants with additional certificates in tele, mobile, satellite and wireless communication.
Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME Corps).   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

Forces Pay Corps.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:
(1)       Accounting.

Information Technology.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

Education Corps.  In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

Public Relations. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BFA, BSc, etc.) in any of the following from a recognized University/Institution, plus one (1) year working experience:

AIR FORCE
Air Crew. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Private/Commercial/Air Transport Pilot License or any other Pilot cert from a recognized University.
ATC Operations. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science and Environmental Science.
Supply Branch. In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have a Degree in any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent professional institution in the following:
(1)       Administration (Finance, Accounting and Marketing).
(2)       Economics.
(3)       Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) – Final Part.
(4)       Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport – Final Part.
(5)       Supply Chain Management.
(6)       Commerce.
Administration Branch. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent professional institution in any of the following:
(1)       Administration. (HR/Accts/Banking & Finance).
(2)       Arts or Social Science.
(3)       Management Studies.
(4)       Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administration (ICSA) – Final part.
Engineering Branch.
(1)       Mechanical.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University in the following:
(a)       Aerospace Engineering.
(b)       Mechanical Engineering.
(c)       Aeronautical Engineering.
(d)       Agricultural Engineering.
(2)       Avionics.    In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University in the following:
(a)       Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
(b)       Computer Engineering.
(c)       Tele Communication Engineering.

 

SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION (ARMY/AIR FORCE CANDIDATES ONLY) ENGINEER CORPS. Architecture. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in Architecture (Registered member of Ghana Institute of Architects and must not be more than thirty-five (35) years of age by 17 May 2022.MEDICAL (ARMY Candidates Only). In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution in any of the following:

  1. Clinical Specialist. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited institution plus a relevant post-graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship (GCPS/WACS/WACP or its equivalent from an accredited College. Must have permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and not more than 40 years of age by 17 May 2022.
  2. Medical officer & Dental Surgeon. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited institution. Must have permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council. At least one (1) year working experience after housemanship in a recognized health facility and not more than 35 years of age by 17 May 2022.
  3. General Nurse.In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have BSc/BA degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and must have completed the mandatory clinical rotation or national service. At least two (2) years working experience is required. Must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana and not more than 33 years of age by 17 May 2022.
  4. Midwifery Officer.In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution. Must have completed the mandatory clinical rotation. At least two (2) years working experience is required and not more than 33 years of age by 17 May 2022. Must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
  5. Physician Assistant (Medical).   Applicant must have BSc degree in Physician Assistantship or its equivalent from an accredited institution with at least two (2) years working experience after housemanship in an accredited health facility. Must have permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and not more than 33 years of age by 17 May 2022.
  6. Audiologist. Applicant must have an MSc degree in Audiology or its equivalent. At least one (1) year working experience as an audiologist. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council and not more than 33 years of age by 17 May 2022.
  7. Specialized Nurses. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must be a Registered General Nurse and have Certificate in any of the following specialties: Critical Care, ENT, Peri-operative, Emergency Care, Plastic & Burns and Pediatrics Nursing. At least two (2) years working experience in a recognized health facility is required. Must have registered with the Nurses and Midwives council of Ghana and not more than 33 years of age by 17 May 2022. A degree in any of the related fields is an advantage.
  8. Nursing Tutor. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have MPhil in Nursing/Midwifery or MSc/MA in Nursing/Midwifery with postgraduate certificate in Education. Must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana. At least one (1) year teaching experience in an accredited Nursing/Midwifery institution is required and not more than 35 years of age by 17 May 2022.

Chaplains (ARMY/AIRFORCE Candidates Only). In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

  1. Must have been ordained as a minister of the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, Presbyterian, Evangelical Presbyterian, SDA and the Church of Pentecost.
  2. He/she must have a minimum of 4 years pastoral working experience including probation/internship period.
  3. Applicant must have GCE ‘O’ Level/SHS/WASSCE with aggregate 24 or better in 6 subject including English and Mathematics or GCE ‘A’ Level passes in 3 subjects.
  4. He/she must not be more than forth (40) years of age before commission.
  5. Must be a holder of Degree (in Theology or Religion ie BA)
  6. He/she must be recommended by Head of Church who must be prepared to release him to the Ghana Armed Forces.
  7. He/she must have the ability to speak English fluently and at least one of the main vernaculars of Ghana.

Imam (ARMY/AIR FORCE Candidates Only). In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

  1. He must have practiced as an Imam for four (4) years, recognized by an Islamic Religious Institution/Body.
  2. He must be fluent in spoken and written Arabic and English.
  3. He must be an Alim Phedeen (Islamic Theologian).
  4. He must be recommended by a recognized Islamic body in Ghana i.e the office of the National Chief Imam, the Ghana Muslim Mission, the Muslim Representative Council, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Islamic Research and the Ahmadiya Muslim Mission.
  5. He must have a good GCE ‘O’ Level/SSSCE/WASSCE with aggregate 24 or better in 6 subjects including English and Mathematics or GCE ‘A’ Level passes including Islamic Studies Arabic Language.
  6. He must be a holder of 1st Degree and a Diploma in Islamic studies from a recognized Islamic Institute, Local or Foreign. A degree in Islamic Theology or Religious from a recognized University may be an advantage.
  7. Must not be more than 40 years of age at time of enlistment.

HOW TO APPLY

    1. Acquire a scratch card at FIFTY GHANA CEDIS (GH¢ 50) from the designated regional post offices.
    2. Scratch gently to reveal the pin code. The scratch card can be used for three times until a record is successfully submitted.
    3. Log on to the recruitment portal @ http://www.gafrecruitment.com
    4. Read through the entry requirements thoroughly.
    5. Click on the Apply Now tab to open the applicant authentication page.
    6. Enter your card serial number, pin code and select your preferred arm of service, type of commission and click submit.
    7. Enter your personal details and take note of the following from Pages 1 to 3:                                               Page 1    a. Select your desired vacancy and provide all other required data.
      b. Upload a scanned copy of your passport sized photograph of dimension (200 x 180 pixels), enter a valid e-mail address, personal mobile phone number in the format (233244123456) and enter any other required data.
      c. Enter your WASSCE/SSCE Index number, WASSCE/SSCE results slip serial number and select a tertiary institution from the list of schools. Enter your graduating GPA/CWA and provide all other required data. Upload only scanned copies of the following: WASSCE Results Slip and First Degree Certificate (Degree, HND). 
    8. Click on the preview button to see a summary page of all data provided. Read through this page carefully and click on the back button, if there are any modifications to be made.
    9. Click on the submit button and expect an instant e-mail and text message, which includes your unique system generated Identification Number.
    10. Print and keep a copy of the generated report as you will be required to present it, if you are shortlisted. However, if you lose your copy of the final report, go back to the recruitment  portal, click on the Check Details tab, enter your unique identification number sent to you by sms/e-mail and order a re-print.
