Admission Requirements
Applications are invited from holders of good undergraduate degrees in the Social Sciences, Business and Public Administration, Agriculture, Building Technology, Architecture, Engineering and Planning from recognized universities with at least Second Class lower division and a minimum of two years working experience
Objectives of the Programme
The main objective is to train professionals who will monitor and evaluate the implementation processes of the policies, plans, programmes and projects being undertaken in developing countries in general and Ghana in particular. The specific objectives are to: produce graduates who will bring integrity to the monitoring and evaluation process; train professionals who have expertise in project design, planning and management; harmonise theory with practice in plan implementation and management; and train professional monitoring and evaluation specialists who will be equipped with in depth knowledge in monitoring and evaluation to enable them take responsible positions as M&E managers.
Uniqueness and Justification
The uniqueness of the M&E programme lies in the fact that it is not going to be just a taught programme, but also there will be practical workshop sessions, using data collected from live projects by students through field trips to prepare M&E plans. The programme is highly needed because there are few well-trained and skilled Monitors and Evaluators manning M&E offices of corporate entities, Ministries, MMDAs, financial institutions and NGOs. The programme is the first of its kind in West Africa at graduate level. The course instructors are highly trained and seasoned lecturers and resource persons with rich and practical M&E project experiences.
Job Prospects
The programme prepares students for employment in corporate organisations, NGOs, financial institutions, multi-lateral organisations, government Ministries, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), utility institutions, engineering companies, construction companies and international organisations.
Programme Duration
The duration of the programme is one year (12 months) and an extended three months for dissertation, making it 15 months in all.
