About KTU Faculty of Applied Science and Technology

The Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, formally, known as the School of Applied Science and Technology was established to provide vocational practical and hands-on education for students.   The Faculty is the second largest in terms of student population and also the send oldest in the Polytechnic.  The faculty is one of the best in the Polytechnic because of its ground breaking research and the ability to communicate why this research matters, not only to our students, but also to the community at large.
Vision
The Faculty’s vision is to become a world class Centre of innovation in Applied Science and Technology through the provision of Scientific and Technological solutions.
Mission
Its mission is to provide a conducive environment to promote teaching, research and learning among staff and students of the Faculty by developing tailor-made programmes of study geared towards imparting the requisite scientific and technological skills for national development.
Governance Structure
 The Faculty is headed by the Dean who is the Academic and Administrative head.  He is supported in running the Faculty by the Administrator, Accountant and the Academic Heads of the various Departments of the Faculty.
Staff & Student Population
The Faculty of Applied Science and Technology currently has:

  • A staff population of sixty five (65) i.e. non –teaching and teaching staff and
  • A student population of one thousand (1000).
