About Koforidua Technical University KTU Faculty of Engineering

The Koforidua Technical University’s (KTU) Faculty of Engineering (FoE) was established in 2007 and has for a decade trained world class students for industry and academia. The FoE has state of the art facilities with a dedicated, interdisciplinary and talented faculty staff with extensive industry experience. The Faculty has for over a decade been at the forefront of Competency Based Training and Innovation that has eased the burdens of many industries in Ghana.
The faculty, staff and students have established several companies that have contributed to Ghana’s economy. The goal is to train students who require little or no further training after completion in order to work in industry.
Whether in teaching, industrial attachment, internships, mini-projects or in preparation of a thesis, the involvement of companies is of paramount importance to us. This is evident in our compulsory six (6) months attachment before completion programme.
The faculty has carved a niche for itself by introducing innovative programmes that address the need of the country. Our curricula are based on the knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry. Formulas are turned into applications. Applications are turned into research projects. Research projects are turned to products that solves some of the nation’s problems.
The FoE has the highest engineering programmes for any Technical University in Ghana today. Currently the Faculty runs both Bachelor of Technology Top-up and Higher National Diploma for all its programmes namely: Automotive Engineering, Plant Engineering, Production Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The faculty also has Technician programmes such as MET, MVT and EET.
By September 2017, the Faculty will be fully accredited to start four-year Bachelor of Technology for all its programmes listed above. In addition, the following new programmes will be introduced in September 2017: Four-year Bachelor of Technology in Mechatronics Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, Petroleum Engineering and Geomatic Engineering. Master of Technology in Automotive Engineering as well as Master of Technology in Renewable Energy Systems Engineering will also be started in September, 2017.
With a student population of close to thousand (1000) and a staff population of seventy (70) and thirteen (13) specialist programmes and several industry collaborations, the faculty of Engineering in KTU looks set to transform the nation’s educational system and ultimately
impact industry and the economy in a way no faculty has ever done before.
